Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). TED - 1-5 years old, 65 pounds, friendly, active, energetic, bouncy Frequent flyer Ted has seen the shelter door a few times since he was adopted from us last year though not because he was surrendered. On the other hand, he kept getting out of his house or yard. This time, however, he was not reclaimed. Ted is looking for an active family who will keep him busy with exercise and play. He is looking for a family who will make sure all doors to the home are shut and secure. He will roam if given the opportunity of an open door. *When in the shelter the first time, we named him Chase as it took several ACO's to chase him down before they caught him. Note here, he was having a ball being chased. LOL Ted is lively, bouncy, and full of life. He loves treats and will sit for them. His brindle fur, wide smile, and floppy ears add to his charisma. He will also charm you with his innocent looking eyes and then jump up at you for your attention! Super fun and super comical, Ted will keep you smiling and moving! We tried Ted in our shelter playgroup with a couple of dogs. So far he seems social and playful but this is only after one time. We will update with more info as we learn more. Until then, we advocate for constant supervision when it comes to 2 or more dogs or dogs and kids. Ted is currently in a back kennel so if you come in to meet him and don't see him, please just ask!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
