Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. MARLOW - 3 years old, 61 pounds, house trained, Marlow was a nervous boy behind the cage bars. He barked and raised cain when anyone walked by. Slowly but surely he is letting his guard down and starting to trust staff. I met him outside and he approached me like it was nothing! He allowed me to pet him as well. Very sweet boy! He seems dog tolerant and was fine with the other dogs he met in playgroup. He actually seemed to have fun running and chasing with them. *Please remember we test our dogs and provide constant supervision. Marlow is one who reacts to new people, though, and might need time warming up to others. *You know them as family and friends…he does not! Marlow is playful and loves all kinds of toys. His smile will light up your day! His companionship will light up your life! Marlow is currently in a back kennel so if you come in and don’t see him, please just ask!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
