Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This is Tater Tot! Tater Tot's a goofy gal. She loves her kiddie pool, chomping at the hose water, getting her steps in with walks around the neighborhood, and specifically male dogs over female dogs (she's tolerant, but stand-offish). She also currently lives with some cats, but definitely prefers them to stay away from her (she's not aggressive or chases them, just wants to keep her distance). Miss Tot was very quick to pick-up on house training and leash training! She does amazingly with both now! This chill girl is still searching for her forever home, so if you're looking for a primarily chill dog that just wants to mosey around with you, lounge and snack you should absolutely give this darling a chance! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
