Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Spots is fast learner who already knows place, sit, and touch! He's smart and silly and will do just about anything for a treat. On a recent field trip out of the shelter, Spots was the perfect hiking buddy who will match your pace perfectly. vcanimalservices Horses, a hike, and ice cream, oh my! We had the absolute best day out with Spots for the #VCASLongStayChallenge ? original sound - Ventura County Animal Services vcanimalservices Meet 4y/o Spots! Spots is intelligent and goofy. He knows lots of basic commands and with his love for treats, the possibilities for learning are endless! He loves to flop over on to the ground (see end of video) ?? His volunteer friends like Masha love taking him to the park, where he walks well on leash. Heâd likely prefer a life as the only pup, but may be open to slow intros with the right dog. To adopt Spots, come visit him from 1-6PM Tues-Sun. He is currently at our Camarillo shelter, but check our website for more up to date info. He is posted to vcas.us/dogs ? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
