Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200. Meet Moose! Moose is a sweet, devoted, and energetic girl who loves attention, pets, and playtime. She is incredibly smart and driven, picking up new cues, tricks, and commands quickly. Moose enjoys chasing balls (just be ready to trade for them!), chewing toys, running around, and doing zoomies. She is vocal when she needs to go outside and even jumps like a little kangaroo when she’s excited. Her ideal home will give her plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep her happy and healthy. Outside the home, Moose is confident and friendly, especially on walks, and she is non-aggressive in these settings. She has a lovable, affectionate side and gives lots of kisses and smiles to those she trusts. Here’s a sweet video of Mrs. Moose. Moose does best in a calm, quiet home where she is the only pet and there are no young children. She can be selective with people and other animals inside the home, she may be wary of new visitors, especially if they move quickly. With patience, slow introductions, and positive reinforcement, she can learn to accept new people. Moose has come a long way in overcoming fear, but her ideal adopters will continue to provide gentle training and understanding of her needs. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape. Mrs. Moose is from a local shelter. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
