Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Adoption Fee: 500. Star is a sweet and gentle soul, estimated to be around 6 years old, with a heart as big as her name suggests. She’s been thriving in her foster home, where she’s shown just how adaptable and loving she can be. Star has been introduced to a chihuahua and several cats while in foster care. Though she was kept separate for safety, her calm demeanor shone through—she met them on leash and simply ignored them, showing no signs of reactivity. She’s also wonderful with children, making her a great companion for families. Star would do best in a home with small dogs or female dogs, as those are her preferred playmates. She’s looking for a forever family who will give her the love, patience, and companionship she deserves. If you're looking for a loyal, low-key, and loving dog to brighten your days, Star might just be the perfect match. Come meet her and see why she’s ready to shine in your life! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
