Description
Dog Breed: Boxer / Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed. Meet Tony The Life of the Party Looking for His Forever Plus-One Say hello to Tony, an approximately 1-year-old Boxer/Catahoula mix with a million-dollar smile, a goofy personality, and enough charm to light up any room. He was found on Timber Ridge Drive in Rockwall on 06/12/2025 and, when no one came to reclaim him, he decided it was time to start searching for the forever family he deserves. Tony is the perfect mix of fun, affection, and good manners. He walks great on a leash, loves car rides, and is always happy to tag along on whatever adventure the day brings. He greets new people with the sweetest gentle smile, happily accepts head rubs, and even takes treats extremely gently. If you're looking for a dog who loves affection, Tony is always ready for a hug and some quality cuddle time. He's also a well-mannered companion at home. Tony is completely house trained, does well when left home alone, and has excellent recall when outside. He enjoys getting out and about too one of his favorite pastimes is watching the neighborhood kids practice football, and he can't walk through Lowe's without everyone stopping to say hi to him. Tony is dog-friendly, though as with all adoptions, a meet and greet is encouraged for homes with other dogs to ensure a good match. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his rabies and core vaccinations, and heartworm negative, so he's fully ready to head home and start his next chapter. If you're looking for a happy, social, affectionate companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily be your sidekick through life, Tony is your guy. Breed overview
Overview:
The Boxerhoula is a captivating crossbreed resulting from the union of a Boxer and a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, these dogs typically possess a striking appearance, often showcasing the Catahoula's unique merle coat patterns or the Boxer's fawn and brindle. Physically, they are medium to large, muscular dogs, with an athletic build and expressive eyes. Temperamentally, Boxerhoulas are known for being intelligent, loyal, and energetic. They tend to be protective of their families, making them excellent watchdogs, but require consistent training and socialization from a young age due to their strong prey drive and potential for stubbornness. While affectionate with their families, their high energy levels and need for ample exercise make them less suitable for apartment living; a home with a yard and an active lifestyle is ideal. Potential health concerns include those common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and deafness, particularly in merle individuals.
