Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Madison — The Dog Who Got Her Second Chance! Madison was rescued from the shelter in October thanks to a foster stepping up just in time before she was at risk for euthanasia due to lack of space. Now that she’s safe, she’s slowly discovering what love and comfort really mean. She absolutely thrives with other dogs and gains confidence when she has furry friends around — and she’s also great with cats and kids! Madison is house trained, crate trained, and such a polite girl inside the home. Her biggest challenge? The leash. Madison says “No thank you!” and becomes a statue — but with patience and encouragement, we know she’ll learn that going for walks means fun adventures ahead. This sweet girl is still learning that the world can be kind… and she deserves someone who will continue to help her blossom. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who just needs a little time to shine, Madison is waiting for you.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
