Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). MEET BLUEY 11 months old. Full of joy. Ready for her forever. Bluey is thriving in her Binghamton, NY foster home, and it shows in everything she does — from her goofy play bows to her next-level snuggle skills. Rescued from one of our partner shelters in Alabama, this sweet girl hasn’t stopped spreading happiness since the day she arrived. Bluey is affectionate, playful, and eager to learn — especially when treats and praise are involved. She’s doing great with her puppy basics and continues to grow more confident every day. One thing that truly helps her shine? Another friendly dog by her side. She loves having a canine companion and would do best in a home with a confident dog who can be both a playmate and a comfort buddy. While she’s currently enjoying life as the “big sister” to other fosters, what she really wants is a forever home of her own. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
