Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Name: Bluey Age: ~11 months Location: Binghamton, NY Bluey is a young dog who has been growing up in rescue and blossoming in foster care. She was rescued from our partner in Alabama and has been thriving in her Binghamton home ever since. Bluey is affectionate, playful, and wonderfully goofy. She does best with another friendly dog in the home—having a canine companion helps her feel secure and brings out her confident, happy self. • Best with another friendly dog in the home • Playful, social, eager to learn • Would thrive with routine, training, and positive guidance All of our animals receive comprehensive veterinary care prior to adoption, including a full exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, spay or neuter, heartworm testing, and any necessary medical treatment. A vet reference, home and/or family visit, and an adoption fee are required. Transport options are available within our operating region, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
