Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location. Jasper is a 1-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a soul far wiser than a puppy should ever have to be. Calm, gentle, and incredibly well-mannered, he walks quietly on a leash—no pulling, no jumping… just patiently hoping someone will notice him. The heartbreaking part? Jasper has grown up in the shelter. This is all he knows. He’s likely never had a couch to curl up on, a bed of his own, or toys that were truly his. While other puppies learned what “home” means, Jasper learned how to wait. He’s friendly with other dogs and would do great in a multi-pet home—but what he wants most is something he’s never had: a family of his own. Someone to finally choose him and show him love outside kennel walls. Jasper shouldn’t spend another day waiting. Please give him the home he deserves. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
