Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: $500. Meet Ember — Still Waiting for His Forever Home Ember is a handsome, gentle 2-year-old Doberman who has been part of our rescue family for almost a year, and he’s made incredible progress during that time. He was found wandering the streets of Kansas with his sisters, Pearl and Sophie, and while his start in life was uncertain, Ember has shown just how resilient and loving he truly is. Ember can be timid and submissive when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines. He is affectionate, playful, and happiest when he’s by your side, following his person from room to room and soaking up attention. He does well with the resident pets in his foster home, where he feels comfortable and secure, though he can be reactive when seeing unfamiliar dogs. With continued structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, Ember continues to build confidence and learn that the world can be a safe place. Ember has spent time around two children (ages 8 and 11) and absolutely loves playing with them and joining in on hikes and outdoor adventures. He is currently fostered in a quiet, country setting, which has helped him thrive, and he would do best with a family willing to continue guiding him at his pace. With consistency, understanding, and love, Ember will reward his future family with unwavering loyalty and a deep bond. He’s been waiting a long time for his person—and he’s more than ready to find the forever home he deserves. If you have a kind heart and a little time to give, Ember will give you his whole world in return. Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
