Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua. Chubs is a 1.5 yr old, 12 pound little guy with the sweetest personality once he feels comfortable. His story began when his mom became ill and went into hospice, leaving him suddenly without a home. That’s when we stepped in, and now he’s ready for his second chance! This handsome pup is the definition of easygoing. He’s crate trained (and actually loves his crate!), housetrained, and isn’t destructive at all. Think of him like a teenager….he loves to sleep in and will happily snooze in his crate while everyone else is up and moving. Chubs is: ✅ A professional snuggler (especially during thunderstorms. His foster mom has the shirt-snuggle photo evidence to prove it!) ✅ Dog-friendly and loves playing chase with his pup pals ✅ A great backyard explorer ✅ A bit of a “homebody;” he’s not the biggest fan of long walks, & does not enjoy car rides, but is perfectly content just hanging out with you at home. Chubs is happiest being near his people and soaking up all the love. His only non-negotiable requirement? A family willing to let him crawl inside their shirt for comfort during storms. If you’re looking for a laid-back, snuggly, storm-shirt-seeking sidekick… Chubs just might be your guy! ✨ His adoption donation is $210 & includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
