Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Husky / Mixed (medium coat). Before landing in a crowded pound, I once had a home where I learned a few things. After spending a month at the pound, I was adopted by a family with a big sister. Sadly, she was used to being the only dog, and the family couldn't get her to accept me. So, I’m searching again for a home I can call mine forever. I’m looking for hoomans ready to shower me with attention, belly rubs, and playtime! I’m sweet, sociable, playful, intelligent, and energetic. I love my meals, my naps with paws and belly up, and every chance to play. I promise to light up your life with laughter, love, and joy! If you are interested in meeting Maya, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at infofarescue or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Maya is 3 years old and weighs 50 lbs.] (2508)

Breed overview
Overview:
The Gerberian Shepsky is a hybrid of the German Shepherd Dog and Siberian Husky, emerging in North America as a modern companion with working-dog roots. Typically medium to large, they feature an athletic build, erect ears, and a dense double coat, often with striking blue or heterochromatic eyes. Their temperament blends loyalty, intelligence, and independence, making them affectionate yet occasionally headstrong. With very high energy, they thrive on daily exercise and structured training, suiting active families more than apartment living without ample outdoor time. Early socialization supports good manners with children and other pets. Notable health considerations include potential hip dysplasia and eye issues; regular vet care, weight management, and coat grooming help maintain well-being. Their typical lifespan ranges around 10–13 years, rewarding committed owners with a loyal, adventurous companion.
