Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Great Pyrenees (short coat). Meet Big Dawg Don’t let the name fool you—Big Dawg is more “big-hearted” than big-bodied. At around 3–4 years old and about 66 pounds, this Shepherd–Pyrenees mix comes with oversized paws, extra toes, and a calm, steady presence. Big Dawg is a pretty chill guy overall, but he’s still working on his leash manners and will do best with a confident, stronger handler who can help guide him. He can be a bit selective about his dog friends, especially when he’s unsure—but with space, structure, and clear handling, he settles nicely. He’s not chaotic or over-the-top—just a thoughtful dog who appreciates slow introductions and clear communication. We’re still learning how he feels about cats. If you’re looking for a loyal, mellow companion who would thrive with consistency, patience, and someone comfortable providing guidance, Big Dawg could be a wonderful match. He’s ready to bring his big paws, soft eyes, and quiet charm into the right home.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
