Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Princess is an energetic, playful, sweet young lady who is looking for a home who's ready for her royal ways. She came into the shelter as a very young mom who did a terrific job of raising her pup and is now ready for a home where she gets to be a kid again. She's only about 2 yrs old (estimated), so is at a great age to be a combination of puppy playful, and young adult ready to learn. She does need some help with her training, as its been inconsistent so far, and she really wants to be the star student. She's smart and loves to get rewarded with treats and affection, so training her should be as straightforward as anyone could hope for. She's gone on hikes with the group and.... lets just say she's more of a window shopper than a competitive athlete. She does enjoy a good walk to take in the world, but, once the walk is done, she's excited to sit in the sun and just doze off. Having been a single mom for a while, she is likely to do well with another dog that has a similar energy level and play style to her (wrestling is so fun! Toys are the best!) but she may also be just as happy to be the center of her humans world and get all the attention for herself. She's friendly, playful, gorgeous and affectionate, AND royalty?! She's just about everything anyone could hope for in a new best friend.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
