Description
Dog Breed: Husky. Buddy is a healthy, happy 1.5-year-old Husky mix weighing about 55 pounds. With a zest for life and a heart full of love, he's always ready for fetch, hikes, and outdoor fun! He's the perfect mix of playful energy and loyal companionship. Buddy gets along with most dogs when introduced properly, though he prefers smaller playgroups. He's potty trained, food-motivated, and a quick learner--just bring treats and watch him shine! Buddy's still figuring out how he feels about cats and kids, but he's open to meeting them with a patient, loving family. He's neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to go. Found as a stray in a local park, Buddy is now searching for a forever home where he can feel safe, have fun, and be part of the family. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (.dfwrescueme) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Buddy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
