Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). SMART, LOYAL, KNOWS COMMANDS! KILO - 5 years old, 55 pounds, house trained, playful, good with but avoids children Kilo was surrendered when one of them developed asthma. He is a knockout with his light tan fur, stocky and strong body and floppy ears. Kilo has lived with children 4 and younger. We are told he is friendly and playful with the kids, yet he might also avoid them. He has not been around many other dogs except one whom he lived with for a little while. I saw a boy seemingly very interested in dogs in the next yard but we have not yet tried him in our playgroup. We will update this bio when we learn more. Kilo has enjoyed several walks daily with his previous family and is good on the leash. He can also be trusted left alone although he might whine a little. Kilo does have sensitive skin and has been on a sensitive skin diet in his previous home. He is currently in a back kennel, Just ask to meet him!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
