Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Forever Home Wanted: Meet Mickey! Mickey may not be the youngest pup in our rescue, but he’ll be the first to tell you that age is just a number. At 11 years old, this handsome gentleman still loves his walks, happily trots along the beach, gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats, and won’t turn down a cozy afternoon nap—on the couch or off… he’s flexible like that. Mickey came to us after his homeless owner lost their RV and he ended up in the shelter. But that chapter is behind him now. He’s safe, loved, and soaking up the good life in his foster home while he dreams of a forever family to call his own. If you’re interested in adopting Mickey, please fill out an application at .labradorsandfriends. He’s ready to spend his golden years making someone very, very happy. Mickey is located in Southern California.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
