Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). UNO - 1-5 years old, 50 pounds, friendly, affectionate, needs a little time to warm up to new people UNO is a sweet quiet girl who was found stray. She sits discreetly in her kennel, watching anyone walk by with sad nervous eyes. As the days go by, Uno is settling in the shelter life and showing how awesome and friendly she truly is. She is easy on the leash and excited when she knows she gets to go outside and play. Uno has become another regular in our shelter playgroup with the other specially vetted dogs. She is showing to be quite dog social with the other dogs who have the push/pull playstyle. Please remember, we are always supervising and supervision is key. You can tell Uno will be a devoted companion given just a little time to trust a new family and get used to a new routine. Uno is currently in our medium dog adoption kennel so come on in and ask to meet her!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
