Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 385.00. Meet Dumpling! At around 6.5 years old, Dumpling is a total sweetheart with a heart as warm as her name. She’s very sweet and affectionate, with a touch of confidence that makes her a bit of an alpha—so slow introductions and supervision with new dog friends are best. Dumpling is house trained, non-destructive, and does wonderfully outside of a crate. She can be left uncrated while her person is at work and always greets them with happy excitement when they return—something she’s still learning to keep under control. She sleeps soundly through the night and quickly mastered the doggie door, proving she’s both smart and adaptable. This lovely girl LOVES to walk and does great on a leash. She’s a low to medium energy pup who enjoys her strolls but also knows how to relax at home. Dumpling isn’t much of a talker and has shown no interest in escaping the yard, though a secure, tall fence is still recommended to keep her safe. She’s dog-friendly, though her experience with kids is still unknown, and she prefers a cat-free home. Dumpling’s gentle spirit and loyal heart make her a wonderful companion.

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
