Big Puppy Seeking Loving Family LILY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Lily Best Guess for Breed: Lab and border collie mix Best Guess for Age: 10 months as of January 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 49.2 lbs as of 12/14/25 - she might have a bit more to grow Gets Along With: Other dogs! She lived with kids in her overnight foster and did well. We haven't seen her with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home See our sweet and snuggly Lily! Lucky Dog Lily goes on an epic playdate! Special adoption considerations: Lily is nervous in new environments and around new people. She is REQUIRED to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will help show her that the world isn't so scary! Lily is Looking For: Lily is a smart, energetic large-breed puppy who’s still growing into her body (and hasn’t quite realized how big she is yet!). She loves to play, learn, and explore, and she does best when she has a positive outlet for her puppy energy—walks, playtime, training, and enrichment are right up her alley. She’s wonderful with other dogs and does well with kids. Lily truly shines once she feels safe: she’s affectionate, loyal, and deeply devoted to her people. That bond just takes a little time and patience to build—especially with men, as Lily can be shy and nervous at first. With calm, consistent interactions, she warms up and gains confidence. Because Lily is a sensitive, nervous girl who’s still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place, she must go to a home with a friendly, confident resident dog. Having a canine role model helps her feel secure, build confidence, and navigate new experiences with reassurance. Lily is looking for an adopter who understands that love doesn’t have to be rushed—someone patient, kind, and committed to helping her blossom at her own pace. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who will grow into an incredible dog with the right guidance and support. If you have a welcoming dog and an open heart, Lily may be your perfect match. What My Foster Says About Me: Lily is an intelligent, playful dog and very loving once she feels safe with you. She's great with other dogs and kids but needs extra time and patience to warm up to certain men. Lily is an energetic girl that loves long walks and will be a great running buddy once she's fully grown. She's smart and food motivated, so she could be a great candidate for trick training. She loves to be petted and have snuggles. She's still working on crate training, but has been making great strides! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview
Overview:
The Borador, a delightful cross between the intelligent Border Collie and the friendly Labrador Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity. Originating from the desire to blend the best traits of both parents, Boradors typically inherit a medium build, often with the Labrador's strong frame and the Collie's agile grace. Their coat can vary widely in color and texture, from short and dense to medium-length and feathery, usually requiring moderate grooming. Temperamentally, they are known for being loyal, energetic, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. They thrive in environments where they receive plenty of physical and mental stimulation, making them less suitable for small apartment living unless daily exercise is guaranteed. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia or certain eye conditions, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding practices.
