Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed. Meet Benny! Looking for a brilliant best friend? This 6-month-old Border Collie/Aussie mix is as smart as he is sweet! Weighing in at about 25 lbs, Benny is the perfect blend of brains, heart, and playful puppy energy. Benny is a very smart dog, already crate-trained , almost completing house-training, and already knows “sit” and “shake”! He gets along well with other dogs but will chase cats. True to his herding-dog roots, Benny thrives on mental and physical fun. He loves playing fetch, playing with other dogs, learning new tricks with treats! The world is still a scary place for him and he is sensitive to loud noises and scared of walking nearby moving vehicles. He's looking for a family that understands his needs and is excited to continue his training with positive reinforcement. He could be little shy about meeting new people at first, but he warms up with patience and kindness—then his affectionate side shines through. Once he trusts you, he’s a world-class cuddler who bonds deeply with his people. He has medium energy and would love a yard where he can run, play, and stretch those long legs. He’s great with other dogs—his puppy enthusiasm can be a bit much for some, but a playful canine companion could be a perfect match. Bonus! Benny’s adoption includes two free training sessions with Clementine Dog Training, to help set him (and you!) up for success as he continues learning and growing. Benny would do best with: - A patient family familiar with herding breeds who can help him build confidence - Someone excited to continue positive reinforcement training and enrichment - A home with a yard for playtime - Potentially another playful, compatible dog If you’re looking for a smart, loyal companion to grow with, Benny is your boy! Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. His adoption fee is $200. The Border-Aussie, a captivating hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its intelligence and athleticism. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of its highly trainable parent breeds, the Border-Aussie typically exhibits a medium build with a striking, often bi- or tri-colored coat that can be rough or smooth. Temperamentally, they are incredibly intelligent, energetic, and possess a strong work drive, making them eager to learn and excel in various dog sports. While generally good-natured and loyal, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them best suited for active families or individuals who can provide consistent training and plenty of exercise; they are generally not ideal for apartment living. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions (like Collie Eye Anomaly), and epilepsy.
