Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Courtesy Post – Rehoming Needed This dog is not at the shelter. Meet Selah – a beautiful and joyful 3-year-old female Husky (reddish tan, brown, and white). ✔️ Spayed/Neutered: Yes ✔️ Vaccines: Current ✔️ Potty trained: Yes ✔️ Crate trained: Yes Selah is a smart, affectionate, and athletic girl who loves people, other dogs, and especially children. She is well-socialized, enjoys visitors, and loves to play fetch, go on adventures, or simply cuddle up for affection. Her journey has been remarkable—Selah was once homeless and seriously injured after being hit by a car. She went through surgeries, bed rest, and physical therapy, and today she has completely healed with no restrictions on her activity. She loves to run, leap, and play with all the energy and enthusiasm you’d expect from a young Husky. Selah gets along with dogs and has a special fascination with cats, though she doesn’t always pick up on their signals. She cannot, however, safely live with small livestock or poultry, as her enthusiastic play can unintentionally cause harm. Her ideal home would be with a family who understands the Husky breed, can give her plenty of exercise, and has a secure environment without smaller critters. In the right home, Selah will be a devoted, loving, and joyful companion. If you are interested in adopting Selah, please contact her owner, Tezerash, directly: Phone: (916) 539-3534 Email: jjjjorgensyahoo All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
