Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. VENUS - 3 years old, 38 pounds, friendly, playful, dog social/tolerant, crate trained, potty trained, good with older kids, vocal. Venus is a gorgeous light and dark brown brindle beauty who arrived originally July of 2024 surrendered when her owners were moving and couldn't take her with them. Venus has found her way back to us after her new owner surrendered her due to work schedule changing. Poor girl can't catch a break. She is almost petite with her thin body frame and shorter stature. Her previous owners state she is afraid of rain and thunder storms! Venus is easy to meet and easy to introduce to new people. She is active and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs. She is more of a gentle girl who will chase other dogs and is ok when they chase her. If they get too rough or move suddenly, she will get vocal. We also noticed when other dogs got too rough with each other, she would run to and give her growl of disapproval as if telling the rowdy dogs to chill out. So funny! Bring in any resident dog for a meet and greet and please be prepared for supervision. Come on in to meet this pretty girl. If you don't see her right away, please just ask.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
