Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Annie came to us as a stray alongside her friend Fran (A050817) on 9/2/25, and sheâs been quietly winning hearts ever since. This sweet girl has a gentle, easygoing nature with a fun, playful streak that shines when the moment is right. Sheâs also done well meeting other dogs in shelter playgroups. Annie is both independent and entertaining. Sheâs friendly, but she doesnât need you to keep her amused 24/7. Sheâs happiest when she has a toy to keep her busy, though she doesnât play with them like your typical dog! Sheâs invented her own sport called âball boxing.â Instead of mouthing on a toy, Annie uses both of her front paws to box it and roll it around. Itâs adorable to watch, and sheâll keep herself entertained this way for quite a while! Annie has a lower energy level when sheâs not âball boxing.â She enjoys affection and will come over for pets, though she tends to keep it brief before moving on to her next activity. Annie strikes a nice balance between being social and self-sufficient - sheâs perfectly content to do her own thing but still enjoys your company. If youâre looking for a sweet, independent girl with a playful spirit and her own unique way of having fun, Annie might just be your perfect match.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
