Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Annie came to us as a stray alongside her friend Fran (A050817) on 9/2/25, and sheâs been quietly charming everyone she meets ever since. This sweet girl has a mellow, easygoing nature with just the right dash of playful personality. When you walk up to her kennel, Annie canât help but show her excitement â sheâll do a little happy bounce to say hello and may even wiggle and hop while youâre getting her leash on. Once sheâs geared up for the adventure though, she settles right in and walks beautifully on leash with barely any pulling. Sheâs an easy, peaceful companion. She knows how to sit on command and takes treats ever so gently from your hand like a true lady. While mostly low energy, toys are where her playful side really shines. They really bring her energy level up! She loves entertaining herself and can spend a good while batting a squeaky toy or ball around with her paws and scooting it along with her nose. She doesnât actually pick them up - she prefers her own adorable soccer like style of play - but sheâll happily keep herself busy and having fun.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
