Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Nyx came in with puppies, who found homes quickly. Likely due to a lack of socialization, Nyx was terrified of people and walking on the leash. She's been doing great, is playful with other gentle/social dogs, can walk on a leash, and enjoys gentle chin scratches from people she knows. Nyx could still use some help learning how to live in a home environment and figuring out how to do all of the things we expect from dogs every day. We think that her ideal home would be quiet, with someone patient enough to teach her that things don't have to be scary, and she would likely do great with a gentle/playful/confident dog to show her how to do things in a home. If you think you might have the right place for her, please email at animal.careventura Rescues: VCAR.rescueventura Foster: vcar.fosterventura vcanimalservices Gabby the pittie and Nyx the GSD playing like the best girls they are... plus an appearance from Cassadano. ?? Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
