Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Pinâs life hasnât always been easy, but heâs proving every day how resilient he is with his tail wagging high. When he first arrived at FBCAS, he was heartbreakingly underweight. We contacted his owner through the information on his microchip and learned that Pin had gotten out of his yard four months earlier. Unfortunately, his owner had since moved out of state and was no longer able to take him back. Thankfully, with some TLC and extra snacks, Pin is looking and feeling great! Pin is a happy, medium energy boy, and a total joy to be around. He already knows how to sit on command and is very treat motivated. Playtime is where Pinâs personality really shines! He absolutely loves toys - especially squeaky ones - and will happily entertain himself or play along with you. Tug-of-war is one of his favorite games, and his playful side comes out in full force when toys are involved. Even though he enjoys playtime and can play independently, Pin is just as happy soaking up affection. He especially loves a good butt scratch and will gladly stick around for more. Heâs done well with other dogs in shelter playgroups and brings a fun, friendly energy wherever he goes. With his sweet personality, playful spirit, and a little extra drool for good measure, Pin is ready to find a home that will give him the love he deserves.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
