Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Iâm a lovable, easygoing guy with a smile that could melt just about anyoneâs heart. I originally came to HSVC as a stray and quickly became a staff favorite thanks to my sweet personality, gentle spirit, and constant need to be part of the action. Iâm the kind of dog who just wants to be near my people, whether that means lounging in the office while you work, joining a pack walk, or curling up next to you for some well-earned cuddle time. Around here, Iâm known as the âBest Office Buddyâ and âTraining Demo Proâ because I help new volunteers practice their skills and make everyone smile while I do it. I walk beautifully on leash, know my basic commands, and Iâm very treat motivated. Plus, I have a signature move: I love carrying a toy in my mouth everywhere I go, itâs my way of saying, âlife is good!â I spent some time in a home with children and did wonderfully, it just turned out not to be the right match. Iâd likely do best in a home with adults or older kids who understand my gentle nature and love including me in family life. Iâve also done great on pack walks and might get along with another dog after a slow proper introduction, though Iâd be most happy just as soaking up all the love as your one and only. If youâre looking for a loyal best friend with great manners, a goofy grin, and a heart as big as his smile, I think weâre meant to meet.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
