I'm Francine, a 9-month-old female Shepherd mix weighing about 58 lbs, and I'm basically a teenage powerhouse of fun, brains, and beauty. I was recently surrendered when my family could no longer care for me, but don't worryI'm not letting that dim my sparkle. I'm ready for my glow-up and my forever home! I'm still very much a puppy, which means I'm playful, energetic, and always up for learning something new. My previous family says I'm great with kids and crate trained, so I already have some solid life skills under my belt. I'm still working on perfecting my leash manners, but I'm a smart girl and with a little consistency, patience, and love, I'll be strutting like a pro in no time. I've been waiting 94 days as of 01/17/26 and have officially earned Diamond Dog Long Standing Resident status, which means my adoption fee is just $75. I come spayed, microchipped, up to date on my basic yearly vaccines, and heartworm negativebasically, I'm healthy, ready, and totally prepared to move in. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
