Description
Dog Breed: Boston Terrier. Meet Melvin — a sweet senior Boston Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a face sprinkled with gray. Melvin came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed, but he’s now thriving in foster care and enjoying the simple things in life: naps , cozy blankets ️, leisurely walks, snuggling with his foster dog siblings, and of course… treats! He’s neutered and has had bloodwork and an echocardiogram completed. While Melvin does have a heart murmur, his results showed he’s in good health and does not require medication or exercise restrictions. He’s also on eye medication for cataracts, which has greatly improved his comfort and quality of life. Melvin is a gentle, loving soul who’s ready to enjoy his golden years in a forever home. ✨ Apply to adopt Melvin: .easelnj/application-dog/ Melvin is currently in foster care — an appointment is required to meet him. Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to .easelnj/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Breed overview
Boston Terrier
A.K.A.: American Gentleman, Boston Bulldog, Roundheads, Little Blue Boys, Tuxedo Terrier
Overview:
The Boston Terrier, affectionately known as the "American Gentleman," originated in the late 19th century in Boston, Massachusetts, making it one of the few breeds developed in the U.S. Physically, they are compact and muscular, typically weighing between 12 and 25 pounds, with a distinctive "tuxedo" coat pattern—black or brindle with white markings on the muzzle, chest, and often a blaze between the eyes. Their expressive, round eyes and erect, bat-like ears are hallmark features. Temperamentally, Boston Terriers are friendly, intelligent, and lively, known for their charming personalities and unwavering loyalty. They adapt well to various living situations, making them excellent companions for both families with children and individuals in apartments, as long as they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. Regarding health, they are a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, so care must be taken in hot weather to prevent overheating, and they can be prone to eye conditions and patellar luxation. Overall, their delightful nature and manageable size make them a beloved choice for many.
