Description
Dog Breed: Boxer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. My name is Charlie. I'm a 5+ year old boxer mix. I've been patiently waiting for my special someone since coming into rescue in October after my owner became terminally ill. Even though I'm a big guy, and I look tough, I'm really sweet and sensitive. Adoption events can be overwhelming, but I do love meeting new people and always offer my paw. I get a lot of attention at events, but so far everyone has said "If I didn't already have a dog.." , If I had more time.." , or "If I had more space...". I am a friendly guy and I get along with the many other dogs in my foster home. I am laid back and don't mind hanging out while you work. As far as space, fenced yards are always nice, but not required. I walk well on leash. Oh, I'm also kid friendly. I am not cat friendly. Foster mom says that's my only downside. Charlie is waiting for you!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Boxador, a popular designer dog, is a lively crossbreed resulting from the union of a Boxer and a Labrador Retriever. Originating in North America, this hybrid was developed to combine the best traits of its parent breeds, creating a loyal and energetic companion. Physically, Boxadors are medium to large-sized dogs with a muscular build, typically weighing between 50-80 pounds. Their coat is short and dense, varying in color from brindle and fawn to black and chocolate, often displaying the distinctive Boxer mask or the gentle Lab expression. Temperamentally, they are known for being friendly, intelligent, and highly social, making them excellent family pets that thrive on interaction. While adaptable, their energy levels mean they require regular exercise and are best suited for homes with yards rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and heart conditions like aortic stenosis.
