Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). If youâve been waiting for a dog who is equal parts smart, sweet, and ready for adventure, Kenzie is your girl. Her foster calls her âmaybe the smartest dog Iâve ever had,â and trust us â thatâs saying something. ?? Why Kenzie is Amazing: ⢠Off-the-charts intelligent. Kenzie learns commands in a single repetition and aims to please. She knows sit, shake, wait, and is working on stay/down. ⢠Great manners. Fully house trained, zero resource guarding or food aggression. Sheâll even share a bowl with another dog! ⢠Dog friendly + playful. She loves other dogs and wants to make friends, though sheâs still learning to respect boundaries. ⢠People friendly. A quick alert bark, then she warms right up. ⢠Crate superstar. Totally relaxed in a crate â even for a full workday. ⢠Settles well. After 1.5â2 hrs of exercise, she becomes a cuddly couch companion. ?? Things Sheâs Still Working On: ⢠Loose leash walking. Sheâs strong and pulls â a front-clip harness and some consistency will do wonders. ⢠Leash reactivity. Improving every day, mostly reactive only when the other dog reacts first at ~30 ft. ⢠Prey drive. Squirrels and cats = chase mode. ⢠Minor separation whining. Lasts about 15 minutes, then she settles completely. Kenzie is a smart, athletic, loving working-breed girl who will thrive with someone ready to continue her training, keep her mentally + physically stimulated, and give her the structure she loves.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
