Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Ginger is an adorable hound mix puppy, born in rescue on October 19, and she is the definition of fun and energy. This little firecracker loves to play and run nonstop, always ready for her next game or adventure. Her wrinkles are truly the best, and her playful personality shines through in everything she does. Ginger’s favorite toy is a squishy squeaker, and she can happily entertain herself or engage her people in playtime. While she’s full of energy, she’s also learning that cuddling is pretty amazing—and that belly rubs feel even better. Watching her discover the joys of affection is part of her charm. She does well with kids, cats (she plays a bit rough but never mean), and other dogs, making her a great fit for an active, loving household. Ginger is expected to be a large-sized dog when fully grown, so she’ll thrive with a family ready to keep up with her energy and guide her with positive training. If you’re looking for a spirited, playful pup with a snuggly side just starting to bloom, Ginger could be the perfect match for you. The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
