Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Rita is a shy girlie but warms up quick. Even tempered, wants to listen, and is low energy. She wants nothing more than to cuddle with you, and can self regulate well when she gets her zoomies with her favorite pirate duck and a bone. She is potty trained but is used to having a doggie door to let herself out. She will sleep quietly at the foot of the bed all night, no disturbances. She is not crate trained because it stresses her out. She has learned a lot as it seems she was a stray dog for a while. She absolutely adores children, doesnât care if they pull on her, is extremely patient. Really the perfect family dog. Sheâs only 36 lbs so sheâs easy to take places. Not too big not too small. This is the dog most people hope for when they go to adopt.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
