Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. New to DRM, stay tuned for more info!! Meet Venus! Venus is a stunning, smart, and sassy older girl who knows exactly what she wants and isn’t shy about letting you know! With her calm, regal demeanor and gentle charm, Venus is the perfect blend of laid-back and lively. She loves her daily walks, a good sunbathing session, and curling up next to her favorite human for TV time. Venus might look all business at first glance, but don’t be fooled! This classy lady has a soft spot for shoulder massages and couch cuddles. She’ll “dock” herself right in your lap to make sure you’re giving her all the attention she deserves! And if you happen to miss her subtle hints, she’s not afraid to “goose” you for a little reminder. Daily Routine & Habits: Venus enjoys leisurely strolls and exploring the yard at her own pace. She’s polite about potty time—she’ll walk to the door and come find you when she’s ready to go out. She eats Purina Pro Plan Large Breed (beef & rice) and takes her daily meds like a champ, even with just a handful of kibble. Ideal Home: Venus would love a peaceful, one-level home where she can relax comfortably without needing to tackle too many stairs. She’s not a high-energy dog—she’s happiest lounging nearby, watching the world go by. Social Butterfly (With Boundaries): Venus gets along well with people (men and women alike!) and is an angel at the vet. She does best with calm or older dogs who respect her space—she may give a “tough” little growl if play gets too rowdy, but it’s all part of her charm. She’s also done great with cats, chickens, goats, and even horses! Her prey drive is minimal, and her polite curiosity is as refined as her personality. Travel Companion: She’s wonderful in the car—determined to hop in herself, though she happily accepts a little boost when needed. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and endlessly charming companion who embodies grace, wit, and a touch of sass, Venus is ready to rule your heart and home. ❤️ Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. dobermanrescueminnesota/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
