Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (long coat). Whiskey is a smart young cattle dog mix who is learning confidence and social skills after a puppyhood without many opportunities to develop either. She is now about 9 months old and is working with a trainer to learn leash skills, become more confident in new situations, and enjoy life to the fullest. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations and needs a family or person who will continue to help her build confidence and gain skills. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
