Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Honey Honey is a 3-year-old Pit mix with a heart as sweet as her name. She has been with us for over three months, patiently waiting for her perfect match—through no fault of her own. Honey is a gentle, loving girl who longs for a home where she can curl up beside you on a warm couch, soak up affection, and sneak in a few kisses. Honey does need to be the only pet in the home, but she has plenty of love to go around! She’d thrive in a home with plenty of comfy places to rest, a yard to stretch her legs, and humans who enjoy cozy snuggles. Recently, Honey was diagnosed with protein-losing nephropathy, a condition caused by kidney damage that is suspected to be linked to her Lyme disease. She is beginning treatment, and we are actively seeking a special adopter willing to foster her for the first 8 weeks while she undergoes care. During this time, we’ll be closely monitoring her response to treatment, which will help determine her long-term prognosis and future treatment. The shelter is no place for a dog who needs rest and healing. Honey deserves a peaceful home where she can decompress, sleep soundly, and focus on getting better—surrounded by love and comfort. One thing is certain: Honey is in need of love and kindness, and with the right home, she’s ready to give it back tenfold. Current weight: 54 lb. Adoption Fee: $250 To Apply: .fcrspca/adopt

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
