Betsy is the sweetest little tri-pod you’ll ever meet! She’s a 9-month-old grey pittie mix whose fur feels like velvet. She has three legs and one giant heart. Betsy is a petite girl at about 38 pounds. Her compact size and big personality make her even more irresistible. This brave, wiggly girl doesn’t let having three legs slow her down! She runs, plays, jumps, and loves with her entire being. Betsy LOVES other dogs and would love a canine sibling in her new home – especially one who wants to play and wrestle! She plays with her foster sister who is at least twice her size (a German shepherd mix). Betsy is not a fan of kitty friends, though, so a cat-free home will be the best fit for her. Betsy is crazy sweet, playful, and full of happy energy. She enjoys toys, zoomies, and soaking up all the affection she can get. When she’s done playing like puppies do, Betsy likes to relax on the couch with her person. She’s the perfect size to curl up with you on the couch while you read, scroll, or watch TV. She is housebroken, kennel trained, knows sit, and is food motivated so easy to train. Betsy can sleep happily and soundly in bed with you or in her kennel as long as it’s in the same room. Betsy can be shy initially when meeting new people, but with gentle patience and reassurance, she quickly learns that people want to be her friend and she freely offers kisses. Betsy is truly a gem and whoever adopts her will be getting the most loving, joyful companion. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
