Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Our handsome, happy Redwood has been described as the sweetest... One volunteer said `Redwood had my heart from the moment I met him.` (I mean, check out those eyes and giving paw...). He is a lovely walking buddy. Doesn't react to other dogs or even squirrels. Happily plays with the dogs in neighboring outside kennels. He came in with a small terrier (since adopted) so did have a buddy; both were clearly used to being handled. He is super cuddly. Knows sit and shake (proof in the picture). As he is very treat-motivated, taking them gently, he is very trainable. Likes to play with toys in the yard and shows no signs of resource guarding. And did we mention how absolutely beautiful he is, with his shiny red coat and white bib and paws. Simply an awesome young dog who would be happy to do anything you ask! See pictures below as proof of everything we are telling you about him. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
