This sweet 8-month-old girl is a gentle, thoughtful pup who is taking her time learning about the world around her. She has a soft heart and a sensitive nature, and she’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace. She may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, her sweetness really shines through. She’s the kind of dog who prefers quiet companionship and predictable routines over busy households and lots of activity. A low-traffic home with patient adults will help her feel secure and allow her personality to blossom. She’s still gaining confidence around new sounds and movement, but she’s making progress every day. Her foster family has been gently introducing enrichment activities to help her get comfortable with everyday noises. While she may step away at first, she’s brave enough to return once things settle, showing her willingness to try even when something feels unfamiliar. On walks, she’s very observant and takes her time. She likes to pause and assess her surroundings, especially when she notices people or vehicles, and she does best with a handler who allows her to move at a steady, reassuring pace. With continued positive experiences, her confidence outdoors will continue to grow. She would be happiest in a quiet home without young children, where she can relax and feel safe. She’s not looking to be the life of the party—she’s looking for someone who will appreciate her gentle spirit, celebrate small victories, and let trust grow naturally. With patience, consistency, and lots of kindness, this lovely girl will make a deeply loyal companion. She may be shy, but she has so much love to give to the person willing to go slowly with her. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
