Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Haisley is a very energetic and playful puppy with the sweetest soul. She loves a good game of tug-of-war and fetch—though sometimes she forgets the important part of bringing the ball back . She walks well on a leash, enjoys car rides, and gets along great with cats, other dogs, and kids. She’s really started to trust and is now leaning into cuddles (which she absolutely loves). Haisley is still working on potty training but is doing well and making steady progress. She sleeps through the night in a large kennel and goes in on her own—it's her safe place, and she does great. This smart girl is very treat-motivated and eager to learn. She already knows sit and give paw, thanks to some dedicated training time, and she’s picking things up quickly. She may be a little hesitant at first, but she warms up fast and turns into the most loving cuddle buddy. She’s gentle, beautiful, playful, and full of love—and she is available for adoption. Here at Daviess County It Takes a Village, we love sharing foster updates like this, and if you think Haisley might be your perfect match, please apply at itvrescue All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
