Description
Dog Breed: Shih Tzu / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed. Meet Beau — 10-Week-Old Shih Tzu/Jack Russell Mix. Beau was born in our rescue after his brave mama was found pregnant on the streets. Now at 10 weeks old, he’s ready to leave the nest and join a forever family of his very own! Beau is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and current on his age-appropriate vaccines. He’s an extra sweet, playful, and loving little guy with a fun, happy-go-lucky personality. He’s great with other dogs, enjoys meeting new people, and has that perfect mix of cuddly and adventurous. His mom is only about 9 pounds, so Beau isn’t expected to get very big. We don’t know his full mix from the dad’s side, but mom is a Shih Tzu/Jack Russell mix, and Beau is every bit as charming and adorable as you’d expect. His adoption fee is $450. Breed overview
Overview:
The Jack Tzu is a vibrant hybrid, a delightful cross between the gentle Shih Tzu and the spirited Jack Russell Terrier, originating from designer breed programs aiming to blend desirable traits. Physically, they are typically small to medium-sized, weighing 10-25 pounds, with a coat that can vary from the Shih Tzu's long, flowing hair to the shorter, coarser fur of the Jack Russell, often in a mix of colors. Their temperament is a captivating blend of affection and energy; they are generally loyal and playful, though the Jack Russell's drive can manifest as occasional stubbornness or a keen prey instinct. Jack Tzus are adaptable and can thrive in both apartment living and homes with yards, provided they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. They are often good with families and older children, though early socialization is crucial. Health-wise, they may inherit predispositions from either parent, including patellar luxation, eye conditions, and certain skin allergies, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
