Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Sweet senior Oliver, 11½ years young, recently lost his beloved foster mom — one of our cherished PMAR fosters — and his entire world shifted overnight. Despite all the change, this kind-hearted boy is meeting life with quiet grace, soft eyes, and a gentle wag. As he settles into our care, Oliver continues to show us what a truly wonderful companion he is. He’s great with dogs, cats, and kids, loves a warm spot to nap, and still has so much love left to give. We believe Oliver may be deaf, but because he lived with other older deaf dogs, it’s possible he was simply following their cues. Now that he’s without his housemates, we’re seeing the signs more clearly — and we’re giving him all the support he needs. He’s incredibly sweet, easygoing, and adapts well with patience and kindness. What Oliver needs most now is a calm, loving home where he can feel safe and cherished again — a cozy couch, gentle hands, and a family ready to love a senior boy who will return that love tenfold. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
