Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. There is an absolutely adorable eight-year-old boy who is hoping for a Christmas miracle — or at least a home by New Year’s. Bear is dreaming of starting 2026 surrounded by a loving family, and he is so deserving of that chance. Bear’s story hasn’t been easy. He was abandoned and later surrendered after we discovered he did, in fact, have an owner. Despite everything he’s been through, Bear remains gentle, loving, and full of heart. Bear is estimated to be around 8–8½ years old and is a short, squatty guy with a basset hound–type build. He has a long body, very short legs, and an absolutely irresistible smile that will melt your heart the moment you meet him. He is currently thriving in a foster home, where he’s enjoying the comforts of home life and the love of compassionate humans. Bear loves to snuggle in his bed, play with toys, and soak up all the affection he can get. He is house-trained and doing wonderfully with everyone he meets. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation.
