Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyHluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. sweet girl ready to bring shine to your life!! SHINE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Shine Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/retreiver mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of November 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 50 lbs as of 11/30/25 Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Shine is Looking For: Her forever home! This girl with enthralling face is eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so she can show how super smart she is. And she wants to know she is safe and loved. In exchange, she promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags she can store up, and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is she the one you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: Shine is smarter than you. Her Strava stats are more impressive. She is definitely cuter than you. But sadly, dogs aren't allowed to sign the mortgage to buy the house to hold the couch for her to sleep on. So she's in the market for a human - must enjoy outdoor time, and absolutely must own a couch. Shine would be a great fit for a runner who wants a buddy, a frequent hiker, or someone interested in dog sports like agility, heelwork, or flyball. But her current foster mom is none of the above, so frankly, anyone who is willing to put in some time and energy can offer Shine an amazing home. Anything you want her to do, she can learn. Training Shine is an incredibly fun experience - you'll feel like a genius watching her pick up tricks you thought only dogs on TV know. She's learned how to sit, down, touch, heel, back up, leave it, go into her crate, wait at the door, and spin...all in the first three days. Shine can prance at heel like a show dog, leap like a deer while chasing the ball, or make the kind of eye contact that makes you feel like she's reading your mind. She can even sit still and wait for food. There's a stereotype that smart, energetic dogs are destructive, but while Shine certainly likes to show her toys who's boss, her fosters have never had to warn her off chewing the same thing twice. She hears you the first time and remembers. She settles in her crate nicely and snoozes the night or the workday away. What can't Shine do? Well, she's still working on keeping all four paws on the ground when she meets someone new. She is super friendly to everyone - dogs, people, cats - but she definitely needs to work on her excited jumping. The best way to explain it is that it's like she's trying to leap onto your lap even though you're standing. We're also learning how to run at heel! Shine is someone's soul dog in the making. She is so eager to please and easy to teach. At 2.5 years old, she's the perfect age to start a new life with - she's already fully grown and completely friendly. You can start running with her or training her right away. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
