Description
Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Dolly was found stray by a kind citizen who is fostering her until adopted since her owners did not surface. She has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms on 12/10 and has started the heartworm treatment - which is one shot of Proheart12 and 30 days of an oral antibiotic. She will be retested in 1 year (this is covered by LHS). The Proheart12 also serves as a full year of heartworm prevention - added savings to an adopter. She is 1 year old and weights 8 lbs. Here's what her foster family said: Dolly is really smart, she has learned very quickly how to walk on leash and she housebroken. She is very, very cuddle, seems very happy to sit in your lap. She hasn't been around other dogs or kids but makes no indication that she wouldn't be happy with either. Adoption fee is $275. Please apply online if you're interested in meeting her. Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at legacyhumanesociety/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chipin, a lively cross between the Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher, originated in the United States as a designer breed. These small yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 5-10 pounds, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors like black, tan, chocolate, and fawn. Physically, they often inherit the Chihuahua’s apple-shaped head or the Miniature Pinscher’s sleek build, with expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Chipins are known for being affectionate, energetic, and surprisingly courageous, often displaying a "big dog" personality in a small package. They can be excellent companions for individuals or families with older children, and their compact size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise. While generally healthy, potential health concerns include patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart conditions, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial for a well-adjusted Chipin.
