Description
Dog Breed: Beagle / Dachshund / Mixed. “Buddy is pure joy. He wakes up happy, goes to sleep happy, and wants to be included in everything in between.” Buddy is a 2 Year Old/ 26 lb Beagle/Dachshund Mix. Buddy is playful, energetic, and incredibly sweet. He LOVES his toys, especially tug-of-war and fetch, and gets so excited for walks, meals, and meeting other dogs. “His favorite thing is saying hi to everyone. People, dogs, the world, Buddy wants to be friends with it all.” Buddy is fully house trained and has really settled into his routine. Moving his crate into the bedroom made a huge difference for him, and he now sleeps comfortably and relaxes well when his people are nearby. “He’s affectionate, loyal, and always checking in with us. If you sit on the couch, Buddy will absolutely join you.” Like many young, curious pups, Buddy is still working on his manners. He can pull on leash and gets excited by scooters, runners, and skateboards but he’s already training with magneticdogtraining and making great progress. His enthusiasm comes from excitement, not fear, and he’s learning how to channel it calmly! “Buddy feels everything BIG: his love, his excitement, his joy. That’s part of what makes him so special.” His ideal home is one that enjoys daily walks, playtime, and continuing his training, ideally in a quieter area with space to explore. Breed overview
Overview:
The Doxle, an endearing hybrid of the Beagle and Dachshund, is a relatively new designer breed that emerged from the desire to combine the best traits of its parentage. Typically a small to medium-sized dog, Doxles often inherit the long, low body of the Dachshund with the floppy ears and distinctive coloring of the Beagle, though their appearance can vary. Their temperament is generally a delightful mix: the Beagle's friendly and curious nature blends with the Dachshund's loyalty and playful spirit, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being affectionate and intelligent, though they can possess a stubborn streak and the Beagle's propensity for scent-following. Doxles adapt well to various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise to manage their energy levels and prevent boredom. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of health concerns prevalent in their parent breeds, such as back issues (intervertebral disc disease) from the Dachshund side and epilepsy or ear infections from the Beagle.
