Description
Dog Breed: Rottweiler / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat). Nelly is a sweet, calm, 7-year old Rottweiler/German Shepard mix who is modest in her needs and super easy to handle. Nelly likes her snack and was oh so happy to munch on the Milk Bone that I fed her! We easily leashed up and went outside. Nelly was a pro navigating the maze of kennels and lead me straight to the exit door! Once outside Nelly enjoyed the fresh air and took advantage of the outdoors to take care of business, so she may be housebroken. Nelly has beautiful short gold fur and attractive white markings on her face and chest. She has a sweet smile and cute floppy ears too! At 7-years old, Nelly has pep in her step, appears well cared-for (and definitely well-fed!), and is eager to join your family. Her positive vibes and willing nature will be useful when introducing her to your familyâs routine. And the best news: Nelly is available to all adopters! Come and meet Nelly - youâll be pleasantly surprised! Prince Georgeâs County Animal Services Division 3750 Brown Station Road Upper Marlboro MD 301-780-7200

Breed overview
Overview:
The Shepweiller, a robust crossbreed stemming from the German Shepherd Dog and the Rottweiler, originated from the desire to combine the intelligence and trainability of the former with the strength and loyalty of the latter. Physically, they are large, powerful dogs, typically boasting a dense, short to medium coat in black and tan, or solid black. Their temperament is generally confident, protective, and intelligent, making them excellent guard dogs and loyal companions. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strong will and protective instincts. While incredibly devoted to their families, their size and exercise needs make them less suitable for small apartments; a home with a fenced yard is ideal. As with many large breeds, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, and they may be prone to certain cancers, so regular veterinary check-ups are important for their long-term well-being.
