Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Ace is a stunning 81lb 6 year old black German Shepherd with a deep sense of loyalty and purpose. For several years, he was a cherished family companion who faithfully welcomed a new baby into his home and took his role as protector very seriously. Sadly, due to an overseas deployment, Ace was surrendered through no fault of his own. Ace is devoted to his people and thrives on strong bonds. He is friendly and affectionate with those he knows and trusts, but he needs proper, thoughtful introductions to new people entering his home. Once he understands who belongs in his circle, his loyalty runs deep. Highly intelligent and well-trained, Ace is crate trained and muzzle conditioned, setting him up for success in the right environment. He is looking for a very special adopterâsomeone experienced, patient, and committed to understanding his protective nature and providing him with the structure and security he needs. Ace isnât just looking for a homeâheâs looking for a forever family that will honor his devotion and give him the safe, stable life he deserves.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
