Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Salem, Ohio Freda 5 month old female Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) Current on heartworm prevention, flea & tick prevention, and wormed. Has received all age appropriate vaccines. Freda has all the desirable Cattle dog traits and not the undesirable ones! How can you get better than that! DNA tests on two of her siblings both said 53% Cattle Dog! I know she doesn’t look like a Cattle Dog but trust me, she will always be right by your side! She is such a happy loving pup. She loves all dog & ALL people. Since the time she was born, she has been socialized extensively! She is cautiously curious of cats. ( I have the alpha barn cat that has added the cautiously part) She might chase if they run but then she doesn’t know what to do if they stop runnin Freda loves to be with me while I’m working outside, bounding around & investigating a leaf blowing by or a new scent but never ventures far. After a good play session she settles down quickly and thrives on cuddling next to you. She sleeps quietly all night in her crate. Although she loves to go to the barn with me, she does not chase the horses! She likes their long tales because to her they are a giant moving toy but she does not try to bite their feet. Chickens are not safe around her! Not out of meanness but again, they just look like a moving stuffed chew toy! Freda is fostered in Salem Ohio thru ACDRA. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
